How should I deliver Christmas gifts to the nursery teachers?

gifts
labonitakr asked:

This is my first Christmas in UK and I would like to express my thanks to the nursery teachers of my child. However I am not sure how and when I should give the gifts. Should I give them in front of other kids and teachers? Or Should I leave them under the X-mas tree with nametags?
All the people seem to be busy shopping for Christmas but nobody tells me about the details of gift-giving culture.

Thank you very much in advance!

Under the tree with tags would be lovely.

Get your child to give them to the teacher on the last day of term xxxx

I usually just give it to the teacher along with my daughter, but if the child is able to! let him/her hand it to the teacher them self, makes them feel good..

Im not sure you should give presents ,there are a lot of familys out there who cannot afford to do that and it will single your child out.I think a card is enough.

That’s sweet of you to think of the teachers, many people don’t. You wouldnt have to give them all a gift, if your child has one teacher in particular, just give them something. Or buy a communal gift for all the staff,eg. chocolates or wine. The staff will probably put all the communal gifts together then split them up between them fairly. There is no set way of giving a gift, you could give it to the staff in the last week before christmas, or on the last day. You can give it yourself or have your child hand it over. Also, you wouldn’t be expected to spend a lot of money, a few pounds would suffice.
    Good luck :)

Invite the teachers over for tea then give it to them OR……wait until the last day of class before the holiday and give it to them just as you are leaving. But think inviting them over for tea would be a nice gesture.

As Katie said, there is no one proper way. Go with what you are comfortable.
My mum always carried in gifts–walking into the classroom with me. She would say something like This is our way of saying thank you for…

As a dedicated and hard working teacher I really appreciate a token at Christmas. My class of 6 and 7 year olds usually shower me with things when they come in to the classroom on the morning of the last day before we break up for Christmas.
When it comes to Nursery- when I go to pick up my son the last day he’s there before Christmas I take a box of biscuits addressed to all the staff and a small present (a necklace or chocolates) for his key worker. I just hand it over and say thankyou before we come out.
