Definitely go off the registry if they have one, since you don't know them very well - guessing at the tastes of people with whom you are not well aquainted could be dangerous. Plus, everything on a registry has the price shown right on it, AND what they have already received.

the best bet is seeing what is on the registry. for my brother's wedding we gave my now sister-in-law a toaster at her first shower and she ended up with i believe 4 toasters!!! (one came from my brother's friend as a joke)

just be careful if ur giving something like that. Because she also ended up with two of another appliance.

just ask where they are registered.

if not gift card,money,something orginal

You never go wrong getting them something on their wedding registry. If you do not know where they are registered, then for people I don't know well I get a gift certificate at a local home store like bed, bath and beyond.

Just a comment, you are sweet to have accepted their invitation. How awkward for you. Here you are, wanting to be a good neighbor and fit in and they ask you to their wedding? That is kinda personal, I think weddings should be for close friends and family, not acquaintances.

You are being a good sport, you have already accepted and these people may turn out to be your best friends some day in the future after you take the time to get to know them.

So go to the wedding and enjoy yourself, and forgive yourself if you do not pick out the perfect gift, given the fact that you do not know these people.

Gift certificates to Walmart or any other department store. Theyll need new things most likely and this way they can pick out what they want or need. Or even gift certificates to a restaurant.

Do you live in a house (instead of an apartment?) The reason I ask is that you give a garden basket-with maybe a gift card from a local garden store. Include some pots and maybe a plant. Also, some garden gloves and maybe seeds. I know it's the end of the season, but you tell them this is for next year-

Or, you could give gift cards from local shops or hardware/home improvement stores like Home Depot or Lowes.

I would suggest getting them a fantastic picture Frame. Maybe Sterling Silver or Crystal. There are some places where you can have it engraved. You can never go wrong with a picture frame because after a wedding (and honeymoon) there are always tons of pictures the couple wants to show off. Plus, it makes absolutly no difference if someone else gets them the same gift...the more, ther merrier.
