If it is a Barclaycard I think you may have to register it and choose a security code which some retailers would reqire in order to complete a transaction.
Don’t know for sure because I got one and did register it.
The registration is really quick and it takes about 4 minutes.
Why not try that and see if it works then. If not, contact the customer service number that is on the back of the card and see what they say. They can look it up in the system and give you better instructions based on the specifics of the card that you purchased.
