I never had to buy a wedding present before.
So I was wondering what to get my good (internet) friends for thier wedding.
I know the bride and groom pretty good.
And I was planning to show up at the wedding.
What I don’t know is what to get them.
Something nice they both can injoy.
Not a gift certificate or prepaid gift card, something real.

Personalized gifts are wonderful. People know that it takes time and effort to select just the perfect item. How about some personalized car mats? They could say Mr. Smith on driver Mrs. Smith on passenger etc… Many options and color combos to choose from.
Something off of their registry, or my favorite gift to give CASH!!
They’ve probably registered at a store. The favorites seem to be Target, Bed Bath and Beyond and WalMart. Those stores all have online registries, so you can just plug their names in, and their registry will pop up (if they have one). You can shop directly from the registry, and the company will even have their shipping address on file–so all you have to do is pick something out, put it on the credit card, fill out the online message, and you’re done.
They should be registered somewhere. Find out where. The store will have the list of things they want and you can pick from it.
Find out if they are registered any where. Then you can go over the registry list and get then some thing from it.
See if they have a bridal registry, so you can get them exactly what they want. If not, then get them something that everyone needs for a house. (Unless they already live together) Or get them a nice personalized gift, like towels with their initials on them.
Find out if they are registered with anyplace, sometimes you can get nice gifts that they have already picked out. Some brides still pick out wedding dishes and flatware that would be nice.
What about a honeymoon basket…full of chocolates, spray whipping cream, strawberries, bubble bath, and candles, don’t forget to inlcude the matches so they can light the candles, you could probably buy all the things you want in the basket and then take it to a floral shop and they will have a basket and will decorate it for you, of course for a fee, but it will look professional, but you might call the shop ahead to see if the can do this.
If all else fails a nice picture frame that they could put their wedding pictures in would be good.
You shouls ask them if they registered themselves at any stores for gift registries. Most likely they have done so, and usually the happy couple has picked out a number of items that they REALLY want but also will fit any budget.
Another nice aspect of wedding registries is that most stores (Target, Macy’s, Bed Bath Beyond, etc.) have the registries availiable online; all you need is to know the bride or groom’s name.
If by chance they do not have any registries, get them a gift certificate to a really nice restaurant, someplace new and exciting (not just your neighborhood Chili’s!). I know you stated you wanted to steer clear of gift-cards and such, but consider this: After the wedding, they are probably going to be a little tight on their budget. Your gift is giving them a great evening together, all on your tab! That really beats wine glasses anyday!

Get them a Tassimmo. Those things are awesome and they make the best cup of coffee. I have one on my registry. Runs about $150 at Target.

Do they own a home? If they are do-it-yourselfers, garden tools, hand tools, power tools, garage organizers are all great gifts. Of course it’s nice to get pretty stuff, but the wedding gifts my husband and I use the most are stuff you’d find in the garage or tool shed.
