You should use something with their picture in. Take a pic with a digital camera and print it out and maybe put the centre piece in a star and stick loads or glitter around it. MD’s love decorations and with a picture in it they can keep it for years and bring it out every year……maybe put their age and hand prints on the back or something like that.

Or paint their hands and feel and laminate it and then stick it to a calender??

Actual gifts might be hard but I remember when I was in nursery I made things for my christmas tree, like dough reindeers and stuff.

Take a picture of the child and cut out a reef looking shape thing. Tell the children to glitter and sequences and all those things and after you’re done. Put the picture in the hole of the reef.

You can also use popcicle sticks to make a frame for a portrait

you will need candy canes plastic eyeballs pipe cleaners and those little fuzz balls. you can make reindeer out of these.
take the pipe cleaner and put it under the curve of the cane fold it upward and twist once or twice till tight, bend to make antlers. paste eyes and red fuzz balls to cane you have Rudolph.

My little girl made a coaster for me last year at her nursery , it was a plain white coaster to start with but they managed to print their little hands on it with paint , dunno how they treated it though as it is washable …

It will be a lovely keepsake for years to come ….

You can get those ball ornaments and let them either paint them or put stickers on them. Also picture frames made out of tongue depressors or popsicle sticks, noodle necklaces, cinnamon and applesauce dough to make ornaments.

How about using clay or play-do (that type of thing) make a rock looking shape with a hole in the middle, bake in the oven so it goes nice and hard, when done place a candle in the middle and let the little-ones decorate the base with glitter, tinsel etc.. this would make a lovely centre pieces for the Christmas dinner table which could be used year after year!!!

Or you could have a photo of the child and let them make their own Christmas type of card, by sticking the photo of them self’s on the front of coloured card and inside let them do hand prints and you could write a Christmas verse or poem..

Another idea is to buy some cheap plain white baubles and let them have fun decorating them with glitter, material sequins etc.

    Hope this helps, have fun!!

Lots of ideas already. But here goes… Candles – give them blank candles, tea lights are good, cover in glue and glitter. Make places for them to sit on out of strong card. Each child can do 4 then decorate a larger candle to stand in the middle.
Cards – draw, colour, glue sparklies.
Dough shapes – cooked (hardened) and painted with iridescent glitter.

Miniature Christmas cake go down well with everyone. use the small size bean/ spaghetti tins to cook them in. Just follow a classic Christmas cake mix and divide it between the small cans, don’t use nuts, substitute more cherries instead, don’t put marzipan on (its made with almonds and nuts should be avoided when working with children as with the cake) then give the children some icing ready made from a packet and they can make snowmen, they can make colurfull scarves gloves etc and paint with cake colour or just a pile of snowballs or what ever they can manage to decorate the top. if you cant cook where you are you can still make the mix at school so they all get a wish when they have a turn at mixing, take them home to cook and ice, bring them back for decorating. Can be made over a period of days or weeks.

picture frames are the easiest gifts to make and they can be made from lots of different materials: paper is easiest and if you allow the children to paint, draw, color, or marker on the paper and then add some glue and let them sprnkle glitter on the paper. then cut the paper to the size you want, then if you want fancier or more long lasting ive added pictures of the children and then covered the whole thing with clear contact paper.
another good item is a card with a reindeer made from the childrens own hands and feet. use only the main part of the foot toe side up, and once that is dry then use the hands fingers out-stretched for the antlers and then thumbprints for the eyes and nose. then or before allow the children draw or write inside the card. be sure you write the childs name and date on the very back of the card, that way there is no wonder on who and how old, when the parents go to store the card.
other gifts to try are coasters, or even wall hangings

You could try to use pictures of themselves on a paper plate or cut it out to look like a wreath , then use colored noodles or ones you paint before hand and let them glue them on with their names and a wonderful greeting? or you culd just use them snow flake looking crate paper things for wreaths?

you could do a christmas sock, like those for christmas. just get some old socks from the parents earlier, and colourize them to say half green and half red and them using gliter glues, ask the children to doddle whatever they want. inside, put little sweets, their photos and some toys and stationary. i did that for my N2s and got really great results

I used to have my son paint christmas themed suncatcher tree ornaments they can do that all by themselves

make a pop-up card it is probably the easiest thing to do. Or just make a regular card.

oh, oh heres a creative one:

get a blank poster paper have THEM decorate it ( put the words merry christmas on it ) and then once their done put all the posters on a big wall make the parents close their eyes and then have the children lead them into that room have the children yell SUPRISE, MERRY CHRISTMAS then they can take there posters home.
