Personally I would make the christening gift the same (or equal in value) for each of the twins. You might want to do something a little later for your godchild, such as purchase a bond (or something safe, if that adjective still applies to the financial world anymore) that will mature when he/she is 18 so he/she could use the money to help with college funds or a car or whatever. As I’m sure you know, being a godparent is for the long haul.

Do what you want. If they only made you godmother of one out of two kids born at the same time, do your own thing.
As far as the christening gown, I think that’s the parents’ responsibility. Like, you’re supposed to use a family heirloom or make it yourself or get your grandma to crochet it for you or something.

The purpose of a Godparent is for them to take custody of the child in the event of a catastrophic loss of living parents, and the lack of other suitable relatives, for you to be made Godparent of only one twin is therefore unconscionable since that would mean separating the twins between you and the Godparent of the other twin.
A gift purchased for each should be equal or for the combined use of both because no matter your relationship to them, they both get an equal share of your love and affection , RRIIGHHHT!!!!
