You probably shouldn’t have given her the gift. You need to be honest with her, and say that you’re interested in being friends… and that you’re sorry if you lead her to believe you were interested in a relationship. She will (or should, at least) appreciate your honesty.
You shouldn’t have gotten her the gift bc your just leading her on. Now your going to break her heart.
It is possible to Just be friends, explain to her that you do not like her in that way only a friend way, it will be difficult but the longer you leave it the worse it will become good luck!

You should of thought of your feelings hers before giving her something on v-day. It was kind of thoughtless to play with her emotions get her hopes up especially if you don’t feel anything for her right now. The truth hurts, you just have to put a spin on it that you really only like her as a friend. You can not renege this time don’t go back on what you say. Then she will be really confused. Good Luck

I personally do not think that it was a mistake giving this woman a Valentines gift. I also think that it is possible to be just friends. What I would suggest is when you’re around her, make sure it is in groups not just one on one. Also make an effort to be her friend, if you haven’t before. If this doesn’t work and she doesn’t take any hints you might be giving her, then confront her privately and let her know that you don’t return her feelings. Make sure to do it in a nice way though, because you never know if someday you might feel the same way. Good luck!
