I am having a big 30th birthday party, and instead of gifts I would prefer people to give a small donation to my favorite charitys. I am putting a small note in with my invites to ask this, but I dont know how to word it!! Please help?

”I Want money donated to charity instead of birthday presents
    please”

note it on the invitations and then everyone should be okay with it .Oh you would write :In lieu of gifts please make a check payable to ; certain charity and that should do it , . good luck .

    Here’s my suggestion -
Please come to my party but don’t bring a present. I should appreciate your donating money to xxxxxxcharityxxxxxxx. Thanks!

Short and sweet. I think your idea is excellent.

in lieu of monetary gifts I’d like to donate any cash gifts to XXXXXX charity or one of your choice if you prefer….

How about ‘donations to the NSPPC (or whatever) in lieu of a gift please’? It would be an idea to make someone in charge of all the donations on the night so you could add ‘Please see Name on the night.’

please could you donate to this charity in stead of buying me a present thank you very much it will be appreciated more

Maybe ask for cash and then you donate or you ask them to donate directly to the charity…the charity doesnt have a birthday donation list so these are the only ways possible..

Instead of gifts, please make a check payable to (insert charity name here) or give cash that I will donate.

why not exactly as you have stated here? short and to the point

say something like ‘if you were intending on getting me a gift, please donate to X charity instead, i’d really appreciate it’, and like say why the charity is important to you

Well this is a fantastic idea . Instead of a bunch of different charities you could tell people your wanting to say have a well built in Africa and have everyone give you money that you in turn send to the charity. I know a well was about $5000 or was it $3000…they send you a wonderful picture of kids using your well after the fact.
I know of an orphange in Bangladesh where you can for $7 dollars provide fruit for all 53 kids .

I think in your note explain your intentions and to ask for cash rather than a gift…Iam sure most will be touched that your being so giving.

    Aloha Darren :)

Here’s a slightly different approach from those above:

Your presence is what matters to me. If you really want to spend some money, would you consider a gift to _________? These organizations mean a lot to me. Thanks so much.

People like giving something tangible. Some charities are set up that way. Like Heifer International, which provides animals and training so families can be economically sufficient. That concreteness appeals to many. Imagine the laughs and sense of community if everyone chipped in enough to give a goat or a water buffalo….

    That is a wonderful idea.
In lieu of gifts, please donate to ******

I’m afraid it’s bad form to mention gifts in an invitation, and even worse to tell people what to give, even if it’s to charity. I suggest you allow your guests the privilege (and fun) of choosing what to give you.

  • funandgames55

No gifts please – but a donation to *name of charity* instead would be very much appreciated.

Thank you for attending my party. For all those who are thinking about buying me a present please reconsider. I think that the greatest gift would be to donate your money to ‘x’ charity.
As its your birthday what you say goes lol
