Russell Mania asked:
I know its wrong to ask them what they paid, but what about secretly going online and looking up your gifts online. I occasionally do this, does anyone else?
What they don’t know can’t hurt them. I just wanted to see what other people think.

i feel like doing this, but i don’t get gifts very often

I do not think that it is right, and it is being ungrateful.

Well…if you think it’s wrong…it probably is. :-p
When I buy someone a gift, it’s not because I feel a duty to spend X-amount of dollars on them. It’s because I think it would be something they would enjoy. If someone made you something, would you be mad to find out they made it with scraps of fabric they would have thrown away otherwise?

I don’t do that.

I don’t think it is wrong. You can compare the price of what you got with the price of what other people got and get a good idea of how important you are to that person.

You should be ashamed of yourself. What the hell does it matter? Isn’t it the thought that counts? I’ve seen so many spoiled kids’ questions on here today it’s made me feel ill.

I do that sometimes too.. I dunno whether its right or wrong but it lets me know how much they paid for my gift so I’ll know if I spent enuff on theirs.

There is no absolutes there. First what they paid could be half (closeout) or twice (mall) what the on line price is.
The on line price usually doesn’t include shipping.
NO, go ahead look if you want, it’s not wrong but recognize the answer you get won’t be necessarily a true one.

I don’t think its necessarily morally wrong…its just being a little caught up on something thats miniscule.
I never look up the price of something online, its always the thought that counts in a gift and im just grateful to have received a gift on christmas. The price of a gift really isn’t important, you don’t need to concern yourself with that, honestly.

No. What’s wrong with that? If somebody bought you a nice, expensive gift, they shouldn’t be upset if you find out its value. After all, isn’t Christmas all about gifts and nothing else these days?
I don’t celebrate Christmas, happy me!!

Why does it matter how much they paid? I know it’s cliche’ but shouldn’t it be the thought that counts? The fact that they took the time to think of you and spend their hard earned money on something they thought you might like should be enough.
