JEM asked:
My sister-in-law asked me to be the Godmother of her daughter. The christening is next month and I am clueless about what to get as a gift. I was thinking a nice blanket that is embroidered with her name, church, and date of christening. Anyone have any nice suggestions?

Open a savings account and put $50 in it.

Usually you have to pay for the childs dress. Anything else probably should have some religious significance to it. The blanket seems like a beautiful idea. But I would go without the name of the church. Here’s some more ideas.

I don’t know why you’re even asking for suggestions. Your idea is already AWESOME and unique! I was thinking of baby bottles, rattles or cute baby shoes. Now that I’ve read what you were thinking, I feel like an oaf.
Go with the blanket. It’s not only useful while your god daughter’s still a baby, she’ll also have a personalized remembrance from her Christening when she grows up. Awww, that’s sweet!
Oh, just don’t go with the usual pink for girls color. I bet she’ll already receive tons of pink stuff. Try green, yellow, purple or peach.

The child’s first Bible would be nice with a cross. The blanket also sounds nice. So long as it comes from your heart it will be well received.
