I am attending a couple’s engagement party and then there wedding. Is it appropriate to only get one gift or do I need to get two? It’s just that they registered at Crate and Barrel and that is really out of my price range especially for two gifts.

If they already live together, it would be good to just get them one single gift that they would appreciate together like a good china set or furniture piece or appliance.
There is no need to get a gift for an engagement party. Stick with just the gift for the wedding.
It is not necessary to give two gifts to the couple. If you would like, just buy a gift for their wedding. It does not have to be something from Crate and Barrel. a pretty picture frame for their wedding photo would be nice. I have even given a nice day pack picnic set at Macys. Seem to recall it was called Picnic at Ascot. It came with plates, glass ware and flatware just for two people. It was a very romantic gift.
two gifts, but the first can be a simple bottle of a wine or sangria..then a nice wedding gift
For the engagement party, just stick $25 bucks in a card and give it to them… for the wedding do the same $25 in a card. Tell them you didn’t know what to get them but figured that they could then get what they needed.
Then they put the cash with the other cash that they get and get something that they really like.
Just because they registered at a place doesn’t mean that you have to follow the script and get them a gift from there.
I ALWAYS give cash. That way I don’t have to pay sales tax, buy wrapping paper, and they don’t have to return the hideous gift that buy for them that they ****….lol.
TWO GIFTS! If you were coming to my wedding then I would expect 2 gifts! haha
