What is a good birthday gift for a LDS missionary?
Marcus S asked:
I am throwing a missionary a surprise birthday party and was wondering what a good gift would be! Any ideas?

How about a book that shows them who Jesus truly was.
Prof. Daniel B. Wallace (wrote the textbook on ancient Greek Greek translation) in an interview in The Case for the Real Jesus says It’s disturbing that when it comes to the Christian faith, people don’t really want, or know how, to investigate the evidence, perhaps he would be interested in what the Bible actually says about God and Jesus.
The Case for the real Jesus – Lee Strobel
Reinventing Jesus: How Contemporary Skeptics Miss the Real Jesus and Mislead Popular Culture
Dethroning Jesus: Exposing Popular Culture’s Quest to Unseat the Biblical Christ
or perhaps a book a book actually carefully studying Jesus.
The Greatest man who ever lived – Steven Scott
Apologetics?
The New Evidence that requires a Verdict – Josh McDowell
Philosophy: Christian Perspectives for the New Millennium
Science: Christian Perspectives for the New Millennium
Belief in God in the Age of Science – John Polkinghorne (Prof. Quantum Physics)
There is alot of ignorance and misconception about God and Jesus why not get him something to help his search for what is true. Alternately depending on where he is going money, clothes anything practical and light.

Honestly, something practical would be best. New socks? Those are easy to buy for anyone. A new bicycle helmet, if his is old. Does he need a backpack or other tote?
If you know him personally, does he have a computer, or have access to one? If so, how about a game you think he might like? Or a case for the computer, or anything along those lines? Music for an iPod?
Missionaries are just plain folks, too. Get a gift you’d get for a 19- or 20-year-old religious young man.

For a really unique and different birthday gift, have a look at a personalized Photo Collage Jigsaw Puzzle from jigsaw2order.com. Just send a selection of photos and specify any other hobbies or favorites she may have. 15-25 photos usually works best. You can also specify any words that you want – a message of favorite poem. Based on your photos and input, the professional designers at jigsaw2order.com will create a unique photo collage layout for your approval before making it into a puzzle. Don’t worry, you get a chance to review and approve the photo collage design before they make a puzzle. Once completed, it can be framed and put on the wall as a keepsake of the birthday.

Kidding.
Seriously though, they love food. Make him a gift basket full of goodies and treats.
