What’s a good Christmas gift for our Grandmother?

mjs0327 asked:

We are looking for a good Christmas gift for oujr 85 year old grandmother that has everything. She lives alone and is still very active for her age. She is involved in her community, church, and has several friends. She is not into electronics or technology. It seems like every year we buy her either a throw, a sweater, candles or some piece of Waterford Crystal. This year I would like to get her something more special. Any ideas?

What about a picture in a nice frame from her grandchildren?

Your time is the most priceless gift that your family could give to her. And when she is gone you and your family can look back and remember the good times that you had with her.

if she lives near you –take her and her friends out to lunch at a restaurant of her choice and then back to her home for dessert and fellowship..you pay for the luncheon and make the dessert and you pick up and return her friends to their respective homes…..if there are to many of you than just take her to lunch and make it a special day just for her–the time you spend with her will be a memory that will last forever and who knows maybe a new family tradition….i may just do this myself

Why not a special photo album with pictures of the whole family.

Does she wear jewelry? I’ve seen some neat charm bracelets where the kids (or grandkids) all pick a charm that symbolizes them (like a soccer ball for the soccer player, a piano for the granddaughter who plays, etc.). A nice family photo in a pretty frame would always be good, but I’m sure she already has plenty of those, right? :) A photo album/scrapbook with all the grandchildren with memories of all the times you have spent with her….

i know what you mean about them having everything, why dont you give her a day at a spa, where she can relax, and enjoy herself. or take her to a salon get her hair done, nails etc. and then take her out on the town.

What about taking her out to a nice meal and spending the whole day with just her? Or treat her to a Day Spa for pampering.

grandparents are hard to buy for, for they already have everything.

so how about a nice basket with a few goodies in it:

    KITCHEN BASKET
    1) small potted herb plants (from garden center or home depot) with wide red ribbons around the pot. even if they dont cook too much, they love the way they smell. basil, tyme, etc
    2) kitchen towel (grams always LOVES extra towels for some reason). i have no idea why.
    3) 1/4 pound of special chocolate candies from the local candy shop or store, each 1/4 indv wrapped in that clear red plastic wrap with ribbon at top (like a pouch).

if not, just try making a hobby or theme basket for her. include some of her favorite foods, hobbies and personalized stuff.

they are right, the picture idea is perfect if you can get ALL of the grandkids together for one photo or ALL of females (like 3 generations of women of the ——— family on the frame or something like that). we did that a few years ago and really should do it again soon. thanks for the reminder.

I did this last year and mine actually loved it! I got an ornament from a place that engraved them for free and had all the grandchildrens names on them and the year that it was given. It was a Christmas tree with mittens on it where the names went. You could get her something like that.

How about a nice plant or if she likes coffee, cocoa or tea, give her a gift basket with those in them along with a mug.
