A good wine for a Thanksgiving gift?

Simmi asked:

I am leaving to go out of state to stay with a friend and her family for the Thanksgiving Holiday. My friend’s parents each like different wines. Her mother likes Pino Grigio and her father likes Merlot or Cabernet. Can you recommend a good one to take as a Hostess Gift for them? I appreciate your help.

I would bring two bottles. A gewurtztraminer and a beaujolais neuvo. The gewurtz is a german varietal that pairs well with Thanksgiving dinner and the Beuj Neuvo is a young wine released the third thursday of every november, nothing fancy just a good easy drinking wine that to me is just a reminder that the holidays are here and time to relax and enjoy with family and friends.

Neither one of these will break the bank, the neuvo is like $8-9 and the gewurtz will run between $10-20. Ok, I know you probably don’t want to come off looking like a cheap skate. remember, wine is about the experience, the price should never matter. If you feel you need to spend more, have a nice center piece delivered for the table.
