First Communion Gift, the same question as before, If you don’t have a gift suggestion please don’t answer

R♥bin asked:

The question is
Is there a traditional gift a godmother gets her goddaughter on her first communion.
If you don’t have a suggestion for a gift, don’t answer. I did not ask your opinion on the sacrament or for a bible lesson or even what you think of catholics. This is an important time for US and if you don’t genuinley care then why waste your time answering. Thank you and sorry I have to be so clear.

I don’t know of anything traditional but a nice gift would be a charm bracelet and you could add the first communion charm.

Girls that age love charm bracelets

A personalized Bible is nice, a small cross on a chain, a Precious Moments figurine that depicts First Communion.

If you go to your local Christian bookstore, you’ll find lots of nice ideas and things.

it’s customary for the godmother to purchase a prayer book and rosary. many times they come together in a gift box with a little purse and/or hanky. any religious store will have them.especially this time of year.

30 pieces of silver (dollars, quarters or Dimes) and the story of what came after the actual 1st Communion.

Traditional gifts include a bible, or a rosary, or some other piece of religious jewelry. Any of those would be great!

If you’d like to get something very special and you’re willing to pay a little more for shipping and handling, I have gotten some lovely things from If you request it, once you purchase the item they will take it to the weekly (Wednesday) public papal audience and have it blessed by the Holy Father and then include a lovely certificate of that. It doesn’t take a long time to ship from Italy either as I have usually received packages by Friday after they have been blessed. My daughter will be receiving a gift from them when she makes her First Communion in about a month.

What about a necklace with a pendant representing a saint? Or a crucifix? (I was raised episcopal so I’m not familiar with catholic traditions myself) I like the personalized bible idea.

My Godmother provided a rosary, this nice little white Byzantine Rite Mass prayer book, and I can’t remember what else. Just think of your responsibility as it’s defined by the Church, which is to teach them their prayers and ensure their spiritual growth… I’m sure ANYTHING that goes along those lines would be nice, and add in a measure of creativity and voila… nice gifts.

Nowadays I see they have all KINDS of nice gifts for that age group in the Leaflet Missal catalog I still get. Check out leafletonline.com… hope this helps.

You might consider a subscription to the weekly magazine/misalette Magnifikid

It arrives monthly, but has an individual issue for each week, with the readings for Mass and cute activities to go along with it.

We subscribe, and every child to whom we have given a sbuscription has loved it.
