It would be a nice gesture to bring a hostess gift. Something small like a bottle of wine or flowers.

It would be very polite to bring a gift of some sort or ask if you can bring something specific to the meal. If they say no to bringing something for the meal, you could bring a nice bottle of wine (if you’re of age and they drink), some nice flowers, or a nice box of chocolates. Have fun!

FYI: If I tell someone I don’t need them to bring anything for the meal, I consider it kind of rude if they just show up with something they expect me to serve (my ex MIL did this once on Christmas, long angry story, culminating with me nearly heaving a cheap ham off of my porch). I spend quite alot of time planning my meals and preparing them when I’m having guests and I don’t like having my table flow messed up. Yes I am a little **** retentive :)

I would bring flowers, or a bottle of wine.

Don’t come empty handed! Bring wine or flowers at least.

Flowers and either a bottle of wine or if they don’t drink a homemade desert.
