    There are 364 gifts in total.

    First day 1.

    Second day 3 ( two turtle doves and partridge)

    Third day 6 ( 3+2+1)

    fourth day 10 ( (4+3+2+1)

    FIfth day 15 ( 5+4+3+2=1)

    twelfth day 78 (12+11+10+9+8+7+6+5+4+3+2+1) = 78.

    On each day of christmas the gifts are re-given.

    on the fourth day of christmas my true love gave to me… four calling birds, three french hens, two turtle doves and a partrage in a pear tree

    364, because every day they give everything they gave on the previous day again and then add on the newest gift

    364, because the gifts are given more than once… 78 is just 1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9+10+11+12, which isn’t correct.
